Last Week in Review

Whew what a week!
My first week of daily blogging! Hope you enjoyed the posts.

The BIG event of last week: I gave away lifetime memberships to the Strategic Alliance Success Club & I’m working on a new style program based on YOUR input. Thanks to everyone who’s contributing. Here’s what we’ve understood you to want so far.. I think you could call it a SUPER alliance. Please tell us how we’re doing..

Plus if you haven't yet voted on who should win the NWW SMART Business Makeover Award. Make sure you vote now. Voting closes 11.30am on Wednesday 14 July 2010.

What did I read this week?
I follow a heap of different blogs and newsletters to pull my top five reads every week.  Plus I have Google alerts on all of my key words which yields a fair amount of rubbish, lots of duplication of the things I get anyway and some interesting results.. One of these is #5 in my top five for this week..

So here are my top five articles of the week in no particular order..

#1: Social Media Methods for Generating Word of Mouth
Loved this article, it combines two of my favourite marketing tools word of mouth and social media. Check it out and then ask yourself: “How can I use one or more of those strategies in my business?” Read the post.

#2: Betting on Smarter or Betting on Dumber
Second article I really loved this week was a short but thought provoking post from my favourite marketer of all time Seth Godin. I didn’t really need to say that: almost all Seth’s posts are both short and thought provoking.
When you’ve read the post I’d love to know which kind of business are you?  I absolutely know which camp I want to be sitting in! Read the post.

#3: Top 6 Social Media Mistakes and How to Fix Them
My number three article this week came from one of my favourite sources Social Media Examiner. When I posted it on Facebook during the week it sparked a bit of controversy when not everyone agreed on what was a mistake and what wasn’t.. So which mistakes are you making? Or do you disagree that some of them are really mistakes? Read the post.

My last two top articles for the week both include social media success stories from small business owners.

#4: 5 Small Business Social Media Success Stories
Well I think the name of this post says it all.  The success stories include a hairdresser, a cup cake bakery, a coach, a book store and a gift shop.  These are real life success stories from real small businesses using social media in a variety of ways. What can you learn from them? Read the post.

#5: My Side Door Social Media Day 2010
Social media isn’t just about chatting on Facebook and sharing what you had for dinner on Twitter! New business can arrive unexpectedly and in unexpected ways as this blog post shows; and you sometimes have to track back to give credit where credit is due. Do you REALLY know where your leads and sales are coming from and are you giving credit where credit is due? Read the post..
