I’m sure you already know how important business networking, word or mouth (referral marketing) and social media networking are to business in the 21st Century.  If you didn’t you probably wouldn’t be here!!

After all more that 80% of business in the marketplace comes either directly or indirectly from networking and referrals in one form or another.

As just one example in 2009 Business Networking International (BNI) saw its members generate over $2.9 billion in new business directly through referrals. That’s a lot of business. 

The bad news is that for 80% of small business owners and entrepreneurs, networking is nothing more than an expensive waste of time and effort.  They waste thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours every year on networking that simply doesn’t work! Most give up, missing out on the amazing opportunities for new business and increased profits that SMART networking brings.

I’ve been researching and working in the field of business networking since 2006. In 2008 I was awarded Australian Home Based Business of the Year for my services to small business owners and entrepreneurs. I’m also an in-demand speaker and travel around Australia to provide business networking keynotes and in-depth training on SMART Networking Strategies.

I’m here to tell you that there is a better way.  And the good news is that is has nothing to do with having a great elevator pitch, being able to work a room or handing our lots of business cards.  Our motto is “ditch the pitch”, I rarely hand out business cards and I would much prefer to be home reading a good book than “working a room”.

Now a bit about me.

I was born in the Isle of Man and moved to Australia when I was eight. I grew up in Western Australia and moved to Melbourne Victoria in 1994.

I live with my business partner Colin and we have two fabulous grown up children Beth and Rory. 

Beth is the Head of Drama for The Children’s Performing Company of Australia, and Rory is studying International Development at university and wants to change the world.

I love travel, good food and wine, theatre, reading, horse riding and spending time with my family.
